"What is wind mitigation?" This is a question we hear often in our office. Here is our answer:

Wind mitigation is credits that you can receive on your policy if you’ve had a specific wind mitigation inspection performed on your home. This inspection can be completed by a licensed home inspector, and assesses if your home is up to code to withstand high winds during major storms like tornadoes and hurricanes. This primarily looks at your roof (i.e. type of shingles, how they’re attached to your home, what’s the roof shape and slope, etc.), but it can also include secondary water resistance measures that can be installed on the home.
